Photo by @max.lowe | Elephants across the globe have sadly become a species threatened by man-kinds dominance of the natural realms. Poaching of Elephants for their tusks has risen above and beyond many other issues publicized across the globe, yet their numbers continue to decline. This Asian Elephant, pictured in Yala National Park in Sri Lanka, is one of a small population of the Asian Elephant population that still exists in some sense of wild life. To protect and preserve these animals that share our planet and inspire awe in the natural world for people across the globe is on all our shoulders.
Photo by @acacia.johnson | West Greenland's Ilulissat Icefjord is home to the most productive glacier in the Northern Hemisphere, flowing 65-115 feet per day and generating 20 billion tons of icebergs per year. It is believed that the iceberg that sank the Titanic likely originated here! Visitors to Ilulissat can enjoy an extensive network of boardwalks and hiking trails along an ever-changing landscape of ice – listening to the constant rumble of calving icebergs. Photo by @simonnorfolkstudio I “God's Light Show. ”The aurora borealis illuminates Olstind Mountain in Reinefjord, Lofoten archipelago. Arctic Norway. The northern lights must have been as awe inspiring to the first settlers of the Lofoten archipelago 11,000 years ago as they are to any visitor today. It is 120 years since Norwegian Kristian Birkeland, the “father of modern auroral science,” suggested the theory that electrons from sunspots triggered auroras. Video by Muhammed Muheisen @mmuheisen | This is Scooter the tortoise during feeding time. Scooter developed a musculoskeletal disease that left him paralyzed. Following eight months of intensive treatment, the tortoise, rescued from a zoo in Gaza in 2016, is recovering and moving his limbs at The New Hope Center @almawa.jordan in Amman, Jordan. The center, established in 2010 by the Princess Alia Foundation @paf.jordan, provides emergency medical treatment, rehabilitation, and re-homing for animals. It links the Western Suburbs to Nariman Point in Mumbai's main business district. The sea-link reduces travel time between Bandra and Worli during peak hours from 60–90 minutes to 10 minutes - Picture taken from the Bandstand Fort #mumbai#india#sunset#sealink#bridge#traffic
Photo by @ChrisBurkard | The Canadian Rockies are a system of mountain ranges that span across from the Canadian prairies all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Mt. Robinson is the the tallest peak in the range at a height of 3,954 meters (12,972 feet). In the winter you can find yourself skiing down open faces in waist deep powder with only a few others around. In the summertime grizzlies bears immerse from hibernation and start to forage. This image features Revelstoke Mountain which is home to the longest lift served vertical drop in North America. Enjoy winter while it lasts people!
Photo by @daisygilardini | Being in the right place at the right time is key when on assignment in remote locations. A sailboat is an incredible platform for photography in Antarctica’s frozen waters, even if sometimes it’s not the most comfortable and stable means of transportation — especially if you suffer from seasickness. The flexibility of cruising among icebergs in shallow water, and the lower angle one gets when close to the water, are simply brilliant. Follow me @daisygilardini for more images and stories behind the scenes.
Photos by @jessicasample | Record rainfall has caused another rare “super bloom” of wildflowers across Southern California. In addition to the vibrant orange California poppies you can see mustard and chia flowers among others. Visit during the week to avoid crowds and always be respectful of nature by not stepping on the flowers. #superbloom#lakeelsinore#walkercanyon
